Born in 1931 in Hampstead, David can trace his lineage back to the first Holy Roman Emperors. David attended the Downs School and Bootham School (both Quaker establishments), then the Camberwell School of Art. After two years of National Service in the army, David studied at the Architectural Association. David worked as an Architect designing many buildings including council housing, telephone exchanges and prisons. David married Ann (deceased), who directed the design of schools across all of London. David designed and built their home in Murray Mews, Camden, in 1967. The house was praised for its modernity and progressive style in articles at the time, notably in the Telegraph newspaper. The house can also be hired as a film and photo location at https://ukfilmlocation.com/locations/austin-powers-style-1950s-home-with-arty-interior-LON3340

His book "Functional Junctions" shows how in the near future everyone will travel by autonomous car rather than by bus or train, even in London. The eponymous Functional Junctions are revolutionary road intersections that dispense with traffic lights, allow traffic to flow better and faster, and eradicate pedestrian and cyclist casualties on the road. It was circulated amongst Members of Parliament. His latest book "A New Garden City in the Metropolitan Green Belt" challenges Green Belt policy by the creation of a new city for over 600,000 inhabitants in poorly used land to the East of London. David has painted in oils and watercolours throughout his life, and later he sculpted with terracotta and glass. He has sold many sculptures at exhibitions with Lloyds of London, the Islington Art Group and Burgh House, Hampstead. In 2014, David was the subject of a 30 minute radio documentary for the Architecture and Design series Encounter http://www.monitorproductioninsound.eu/encounter/2016/3/16/daviod-hyde-h
